I met with the other 3 at Starbucks Cityhall. We searched for this place called Soho Coffee by foot. It was at 36 Armenian Street.

The area was pretty nice, with expensive looking shops. But by the time we found the place, it had closed for the day. It was around 8.30 pm. Cupu!

So we have to eat somewhere else. In the end, we decided on Poulet at Bugis+.

I was starving!!

Reached Bugis+, took the lift (who's got time for escalators?)

It wasn't that crowded, so we got seats pretty quickly. We ordered Poulet Roti, which was a chicken. Nothing to do with breads. They have a choice of half chicken or whole, and we decided to buy two wholes and split them between the 4 of us.

The chicken came pretty fast, and I immediately dug in. It was CRAZY GOOD. I mean, REALLY REALLY GOOD. Loss of words.

It was 28 something for a whole chicken. You should really go and try it. 10 stars recommended.

So we chit chatted until around 10, then we went to the arcade a floor above. Played a game of racing cars, then we decided to go karaoke.

There was this karaoke place called Studio or something at Bugis+ lv 3. So we went there.

Kimberly Ong: "How much is it for an hour?"
Guy: "For how many person?"
Kimberly Ong: "4."
Guy: "20++ dollars per room."
Kimberly Ong: "Alright. Thanks."

I made a call to Crown Music Box, another karaoke place nearby and asked their price. It was $17 per person per hour. Reported that to the other 3.

Yohannes Wijaya: *points to Studio* "Masuk coy. Skarang." (lol)

So it's decided just like that. We booked a room for an hour.

Sang a few songs when the waitress came in.

Waitress: "What drinks would you want?"
Kimberly Ong: "No thanks."
Waitress: "But you have to order a drink. 1 minimum."
Kimberly Ong: "Ok. What do you have?"
Waitress: *Hands out menu* "The cheapest here is 10 dollars. Soft drinks, honey lemon.."
Kimberly Ong: "Ok. One honey lemon please."
Waitress: "Alright. And the rest?"
Kimberly Ong: *looked at the others. They shook their heads.* "Um that's it."
Waitress: "But it's minimum 1 drink per person."
Kimberly Ong: "..."

I was like, no wonder the room was so cheap. So they ordered 3 ice milk teas, which was $11 dollars per glass.

So we continued our singing. Took a video but the voice was inaudible so I will not share it.

But a pic will do!

Our (or my) happy faces before what happened next.

A few moments later, the same waitress came into our room.

Waitress: "You have 20 minutes left. Do you want to top up?"
Yohannes Wijaya: "Anything."
Kimberly Ong:" I don't mind."
Matthew Nuradi: *shook his head* "Bakal ada kiriman barang besok pagi. Ngga usah deh." *faces the waitress* "No thanks."
Waitress: "Do you want to pay now or later?"
Matthew Nuradi: "Now please."
Waitress: "Ok." *leaves*

And we sang some more.

Anes was the one singing when the waitress came back with the bill. She presented it to me since I was closest to the door. And I saw 3 digits of bolded number on the bottom. THREE.

I grabbed the bill, and went through the whole thing.

It was all correct.

Including the taxes.

The total of our spending was $63. And the frikking taxes made $63 grow into a big fat $102.

Dear friends. Please do not underestimate any "++" signs.

Kimberly Ong: *stunned. Tapped Yohannes Wijaya who was singing with all his might.* "Nes.. Nes.. Billnya.."
Yohannes Wijaya: *glanced at the bill. Stopped singing.*

The little piece of paper went to Cilla in silence, and then to Matthew. We were all stunned.

Mat was the first to go back to his senses. Took his NETS card and paid. The waitress left the room. Then the whole room went bananas. Anes was changing lyrics of the song he was singing to express what just happened. I was laughing of disbelief. Cilla and Matthew was expressing whatever they felt in their own way.

In the end, it was Matthew's treat. He is leaving this Friday for good, and he said it was a gift for us Nobars. Thanks Mat!!

But even though I didn't spend a cent for the karaoke, it was still upsetting. I cannot believe we spent a hundred dollars for an hour of karaoke. It was a staggering Rp 700.000!!! Gosh.

I don't know what to say. It was almost funny.

Anyway. Had a good time, still. I think we will laugh about this is years to come. And may God bless Mat for his $102 a hundred fold!!

Bye!
